Diary:
Extraordinary levels of excitement due to the upcoming final day, only let us go to sleep at 10 o’clock. What a no go. We woke up at 5 o’clock to an amazing final breakfast with scrambled eggs and everything else you could ever dream of for breakfast. Our walking day started at 7:15 in Edelschrott, in contrary to most other days we spent a rather chilled morning with several corny breaks due to the extreme heat and because we wanted to enjoy our last corny bars as much as possible. Walking past a Lama paddock before lunch was reason for great excitement among several group members. Experiments like spitting at them, to make them spit at us failed. Next to newbie Leo Rössner and returned Alix Leeb, we also had the Reutters Labrador Liffey with us today, who refused to drink water all day, therefore M.I.A after lunch. Two naughty little girls called Valerie and Sophia wanted to revenge Philipp for being an arrogant fitness snob for the past days by secretly putting rocks and trash in his backpack. He however didn’t even notice and continued walking.
Just before the last ascent, we waited together to embark on it as a group. We arrived at Hollererhof, about 3km from Stift Rein, at 15:10. Here we were welcomed by a committee of parents and friends that came with us for the final steps down to Clemi’s grave. On our way to the graveyard we passed by the church to pick up candles. Walking across from the church to the graveyard created a very special atmosphere that touched us all deeply. When we put down the candles and said a short prayer we realized that every step and every blister was more than worth it.
Thank you so much to everyone who supported us on the way by taking us in overnight, giving us lunch, driving us around, supplying us with medicines etc. and READING THE BLOG.
